I’m looking to start on online business and I would like to get suggestions on the best deals on merchant accounts. What should I look for?

I have a growing high risk business. Do I keep on using Paypal or get a merchant account as my biz grows? Is it safer to opt for a 3rd party high risk merchant account provider?

A merchant account application is asking for a single person to be the owner of the account, however there will be no single owner it will be an enterprise.

How many payment processing options should a merchant account provider offer to the merchants? Is credit/debit card processing good enough or should other payment options like Ach processing, direct debit etc should also be provided?

I had planned to just use Paypal, but there will be some orders over the phone, so I really do need a merchant account.
Paypal requires an “application”, so I’m thinking credit is a factor.

I would like to know how to get an Internet merchant account with an acquiring bank to be able to process payments online, if the company is outside of US (registered in Europe)? Maybe you know some consulting companies that help opening the merchant account?

Beyond sites like Ebay but something that can be tailored to host the product listings without having to invest in a separate merchant account and building a database to query the products. I would rather it be something that can be integrated in a current site without it having to redirect to another site to make the final purchase. Anything that would allow me to have the least amount of click-thru’s that result in a sale.

I want to open up a website to sell stuff, but I’m not sure if I should use a Merchant account or a Paypal account? What’s the difference?
